February Updates!

My energy this month is low and things are heavy right now. For many of us, they have been heavy for decades and even centuries, but things are escalating. If you follow me on Instagram or Threads, you hear me talk about these injustices a lot, so I am going to refrain from doing the same here. You know where I stand.

Today, I want to focus on Black History Month.

It is so important to learn from and reflect on Black lived experience. In the social media chaos of allyship, performative allyship, and straight up ignorance, I want to encourage everyone to read books by Black authors year round, and do it with an open mind. There is so much to learn and enjoy. And in an interest of moving forward into a world of true equity and community, it is so important for people who are not Black (especially white people) to recognize that true equity and deconstruction of racism in our society is a continuous learning process and sometimes that can be uncomfortable, but it is so so SO worth doing the work. So please spend your year being intentional with where you put your money, energy, and time.

Also, here are some books I HIGHLY recommend that are written by Black Authors, in case you need a place to start. If you aren’t already, go follow these authors, subscribe to their newsletters, and buy their books.

Things are happening! Vicious Miscreations is officially on Storygraph, Fable, AND Goodreads. Woohoo!! I am so grateful for my indie author community who made that process feel a zillion times less overwhelming!

I publicly announced Vicious Miscreations’ Blurb, and the series title. In case you missed it, it is called ‘The Fractured Worlds’!

In other news, I started working with my cover artist in early January. He has assuaged all my cover art fears and I am so excited to show you what we have been working on together. I think it is going to absolutely blow minds.

In my own life? HA! What life? I am very much trying to get writing things done, including my map for this book…which, why didn’t anyone tell me that forests were so difficult???? I am sooooo irritated, especially since most of my world is overtaken by FOREST. Roar!

The only thing I can really say beyond that is that I actually got a whole week’s worth of good sleep. After years of restless, shitty sleep, I am like!!!!! Is this how normal people feel? No wonder everyone is so productive! I am obsessed. So that’s exciting because I am getting more done! Hurrah!

I am going to be announcing my release date next Monday! Which I am so freaking excited for. It still feels so far away, but damn if I’m not excited. For you wonderful souls who are already here…

Vicious Miscreations will be out August 18, 2026!

There! I said it! ALSO!!!!

I cannot believe we are almost here! In the middle of this month I am opening early Street Team applications! I am having a joyous time wobbling between excitement and the absolute fear that not a single person will sign up. This seems to be my state at all times currently, so that is a fun little balance beam act, lemme tell ya.

For those of you who don’t know, a Street Team is a group of volunteers who help with things like cover reveals, getting the word out about big announcements, they read and review the ARC (which they get a tidbit early) before release, and those in the US will get a little bundle of art and goodies as a thank you! It will also mean having access to my discord server and I will try to come up with some other benefits for more permanent members! If you are interested, keep an eye out on my Instagram for announcements.

Finally, I participated in a fundraiser for the Human Voices for Human Rights Campaign. I got to work with Rae Witte, a rather extraordinary voice actor. They did an incredible job of bringing Kiana’s voice to life. I got chills the first few times I listened to it. Surprise! You guys get to hear it before everyone else!

Thank you for being here!

All good news! Glad you are getting sleep!! Great to chat yesterday. I have been getting better sleep as well. Adjusting certain supplements and trying a small bit of estriol. Sleep makes all the difference to me – mood, mind, outlook.Much love.Mum LoisThe inner life of any great thing will be incomprehensible to me until I develop and deepen an inner life of my own.
